In the following experimental process
described, jet lag and its affects on the human body are attempted to be resolved
by using light exposure treatment, doses of melatonin and 30 minutes of aerobic
exercise.

AEROBIC
EXERCISE

            When people travel by plane East to
West it disrupts the internal system resulting in jet lag, upon landing at
their destination, actively participating in 30 minutes of aerobic exercise
will reduce the harsh affects of jet lag. In the following experiment a
randomly selected plane traveling East to West will ask the travelers to
participate in a study but will not be told what it is being examined. They
will ask that if you are in seats A and C that you apart of group1 and if
you’re in seats B and D that you are in group 2. All participates are asked to
not take any non-prescription drugs and to not eat a full meal on the plane.
Once the plane lands the experimenter takes all participates to a yoga studio.
Group 1 does yoga for 30 minutes while group 2 waits on a charter bus to be
taken to their hotel. The travelers are asked to fill out a survey every night
before they go to bed that simply asks their symptoms of jet lag on a scale of
1-10. At the end of the travelers stay they are asked to return their surveys
to the front desk of the hotel where the experimenter picks them up and reports
on the findings.

MELATONIN

            When people travel by plane East to
West it disrupts the internal system resulting in jet lag, if the person were
to take a dose of melatonin every night once they arrived at their destination
then the harsh effects of jet lag would not be felt. In the following
experiment a randomly selected plane traveling East to West will ask the
travelers to participate in a study but will not be told what it is being
examined. They will ask that if you are in seats A and C that you apart of
group1 and if you’re in seats B and D that you are in group 2. All participates
are asked to not take any non-prescription drugs and to not eat a full meal on
the plane. Once arrived at the destination the participants in group 2 are given
a dose of melatonin every night before they go to bed. The participants in group
1 are given a placebo every night before bed. Both groups
are asked to fill out a survey every morning outlining 3 symptoms of jet lag and
asking the participants to rate each one on a scale of 1- 10. Once the travelers
check out they leave their surveys at the front desk and they are collected by the
experimenter and reported on.

LIGHT
THERAPY

            When people travel East to West it
disrupts the internal system resulting in jet lag, upon landing at their
destination, being exposed to light therapy treatment before going to sleep
will significantly reduce the harsh affects of jet lag. In the following experiment
a randomly selected plane traveling East to West will ask the travelers to participate
in a study but will not be told what it is being examined. They will ask that if
you are in seats A and C that you apart of group1 and if you’re in seats B and D
that you are in group 2. All participates are asked to not take any non-prescription
drugs and to not eat a full meal on the plane. Once arrived at the destination group1
is subject to light therapy treatment every night before going to sleep while group
2 is subject to nothing out of their ordinary routine. Both groups are asked to
fill out a survey every morning outlining 3 symptoms of jet lag and asking the participants
to rate each one on a scale of 1- 10. Once the travelers check out they leave their
surveys at the front desk and they are collected by the experimenter and reported
on.

CONCLUSION

            Once all three experiments were completed
all surveys were collected and tallied up the results according to group that received
the independent variable the severity of their symptoms of jet leg. To determine
which treatment resulted in less harsh jet lag was determined by the survey responses
of severity to their 3 symptoms of jet lag.
