Renaissance
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.”- Bil Keane
How did the Renaissance change man’s view of man? In the 1400’s the Middle Ages ended and became the Renaissance. In the Middle Age period the Churches had the main authority. During this time people had little to no rights. The Renaissance was a big change and it lasted 300 years. How did the Renaissance change man’s thinking? Man had started to see a new type of art, literature, and science. I think man’s thinking changed due to three important parts of the Renaissance art, literature, and science.
How did the Renaissance change man’s thinking? The first reason was due to the fresh style of art and the different style of literature. In (Doc A) it compared two paintings one old and one from the Renaissance, The First painting called Madonna Enthroned Between two Angels by, Duccio di Buoninsegna. This painting was painted in a religious way and that’s what the church wanted. The other painting was called Mona Lisa by, Leonardo Da Vinci, this painting used a new fresh art style, this style had 3D shapes and Natural landscape. This New painting style changed man’s thinking by showing artistic flexibility. The second way the Renaissance change man’s thinking was from different styles of literature. An example in (Doc B) the play Hamlet, William Shakespeare wrote how people were viewed (Doc B). During the Renaissance time period, people viewed others as an angelic individual. People started to see each other as elegant beings.
How did the Renaissance change man’s thinking? With the Renaissance came more research on astronomy and anatomy. For Example, Man started to see a new type of science. In source two, Copernicus’s idea of “Heliocentric Universe (Doc C) this theory challenged the popular opinion. The geocentric universe which was widely believed was a theory about how everything revolves around the earth (this was proved to be wrong during the Renaissance), The Heliocentric Universe, is a theory about how earth and other planets revolved around the sun, this challenged what the Church taught. Challenging the theory of the geocentric universe would mean death but, due to the theory getting proved wrong the church couldn’t kill people. Lastly, the Renaissance change man’s view of anatomy. Before the Renaissance people believed that the certain body parts were controlled by a zodiac symbol. To put this in perspective people believed each body part was controlled by a mythical animal (Doc D). Someone named Vesalius proved that the theory was wrong by doing biopsies on people who have passed away (Doc D). With this research, he proved that the body controlled its parts and not a zodiac.
How did the Renaissance change man’s thinking? Man had started to see a new type of art, literature, and science. Although you couldn’t blame them for believing in the things that believed by learning these things we have gone further. People need to know about this stuff because we can correct our past mistakes and think about the future.
