Society they always they have a lot of

Society today has different ways individuals can communicate with one another then when telephone booths were invented. People have many ways to communicate for example phones, facetime and social media but some people can use these useful technology in a negative way like harassing. Harassment can be tough on people that can’t cope with negativity. What harassment can lead people to do is even take their own life. Because there are certain individuals that can’t cope with harassments they try to find a way out of this situation. There are many different types of harassments and there are many are many ways to do it but the most known harassment happens on social media. “Cyber harassments can have harmful effects on social media user, such as emotional distress and consequently withdraw from social network sites or even life itself ” (Laer 2013). Using social media affects adolescents friendship, identities, cognitive growth, and health. Social media has demonstrated to have links with adolescent depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and personality disorder. Many of these causes can lead to the users to take their own lives because of the things they go through on social media. The negative posts shown on social media about a user can also lead that individual to hurt themselves. However cyberbullying is what makes individuals commit suicide the most. Not only are people get bullied in school, but cyberbullying is also accruing. Social media has become a place where people get shamed and made fun of. “It also has become a huge deal. A complicating factor is that the three characteristics that define bullying do not always translate well into digital behaviors. Qualities specific to digital environments often render cyberbullying and bullying different in circumstances, motivation and outcomes” (Englander et al. 2017). There are many reasons why one would harass someone on social media, but another harassment is when people try to discover themselves gender wise. Many people are being harassed in many ways, but getting harassed about your gender seems to be commonly known. When people hear that a person sexuallity is different they always they have a lot of comments to say. Rumors begin to spread and people always say what they think is right. When someone prefers the same gender they always get judged and treated differently. “Studies demonstrated that social stressors are associated with mental health outcomes in LGB people, supporting formulations of minority stress”(Meyer 2003) People may think that they’re less than everyone else. Women are always getting compared to men. Weather its working or ability women get compared. ” Men and women differ in their roles, responsibilities, status and power and these socially constructed differences interact with biological differences to contribute…behaviors”(Vijayakumar 2015). People still say the phrase “it’s a man’s job”.    People may think what they are doing is not wrong. They may justify that they have the right to do so because they have the freedom of speech or the freedom to express themselves. “It is true that many human rights documents give a prominent place to the right to speech and conscience, but such documents also place limits on what can be said because of the harm and offense that unlimited speech can cause”( van Mill 2017). Everyone has equal rights and the right to express themselves but there are limitations. There are limits of what you can say and limits of what people can handle. Harassment is still not okay. With so many types of harassments people can’t deal with them anymore. Individuals sometimes come to the conclusion to stop this situation and that may be to end their life. As new forms of communications are develop so will new forms of harassments. Not only is there one form of harassment but many more than the ones mentioned. No one said life would be easy, but people don’t have to make others life harder.Works Cited Englander, E, et al. “Defining Cyberbullying.” Pediatrics., U.S. National Library of Medicine, Nov. 2017, Laer, Tom van. “The Means to Justify the End: Combating Cyber Harassment in Social Media.” Tom van Laer, The Means to Justify the End: Combating Cyber Harassment in Social Media – PhilPapers, 1 Jan. 1970, Meyer, Ilan H. “Prejudice, Social Stress, and Mental Health in Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Populations: Conceptual Issues and Research Evidence.” Psychological bulletin 129.5 (2003): 674–697.
