The was the inexhaustible charm that rose

The american dream is show in many ways in the great gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. He shows it multiple times through the book in multiple ways. An example is when gatsby sees the green light, and the valley of ashes. The american dream is basically having money and a family and doing great in life and being free, and regardless of race, gender, or nationality can be successful. Too everyone gatsby had this because he was very rich and everyone thought he had a great life, but he was trying to achieve that.every week he throws huge parties hoping daisy comes because he loves her, and wants to marry her. Despite everything he owns like his mansions, cars and wealth he still wants to get daisy because he thinks he loves her, and at one point it almost happened. Another time was when Fitzgerald wrote “Her voice is full of money,” he said suddenly. That was it. I’d never understood before. It was full of money—that was the inexhaustible charm that rose and fell in it, the jingle of it, the cymbals’ song of it”.The green light is an example of the dream and another example is the valley of ashes. The green light that gatsby sees represents his hopes and dreams of his life, and his love for her. The valley of ashes which represents the ugly consequences of America’s obsession with wealth, and loneliness. F. Scott Fitzgerald shows the american dream a lot in this book and represents it in many different ways. He uses color as one of the major ways he shows it and uses colors likes green and blue. He also shows how gatsby was very poor when he was younger and he became extremely wealthy he does this too show anyone can do this with effort, and how he is a representation of the american dream due to his wealth,In chapter one you get the first representation of the american dream when the green light is shown.¨He stretched out his arms toward the dark water in a curious way, and, far as I was from him, I could have sworn he was trembling. Involuntarily I glanced seaward – and distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and far away, that might have been the end of a dock¨. That was the first time the green light was described and the american dream was represented with gatsby and daisy loving each other. The green light is represented multiple times in this book, whenever gatsby throws his parties that also represented the american dream. An example is ” The truth was that Jay Gatsby, of West Egg, Long Island, sprang from his Platonic conception of himself. He was a son of God—a phrase which, if it means anything, means just that—and he must be about His Father’s business, the service of a vast, vulgar, and meretricious beauty. So he invented just the sort of Jay Gatsby that a seventeen year old boy would be likely to invent, and to this conception he was faithful to the end.” Which made gatsby seem like a perfect person The american dream is the most important theme is the great gatsby, and is represented multiple times in good and bad ways. With the green light, the valley of ashes, and his parties he throws. The american dream for the great gatsby was being with daisy.Work citedFitzgerald F. Scott The Great Gatsby, scribner,2004.
