The present critical review article deals with recent advances in research and promising efficiency, stability and durability of SCT. The main purpose to find out the best efficiency and durability of self-cleaning SHP structures. The techniques used for the last five year include many preparation methods such as dip-coating, chemical bath deposition, sol-gel, electrolysis Layer by layer assembly and miscellaneous techniques. The preparation method is easy to handle, low cost and its stability and durability of SCT film is more significant. Self-cleaning SHP technology with multifunctional applications has attracted great attention to the solar cell, self-cleaning toilet, textile industry, cotton fabrics, building constructions has been made in recent years. Numerous complications still exist on SCT such as mechanical stability, cost of materials with multi-functionalities, efficiency, durability and scalable production stability of the surfaces and fast adhesive force measurement on the self-cleaning SHP still improved, and then only SCT could be appreciated. Therefore, flexible, bendable, renewable, and smart responsive SCT is a more significant issue for future investigation. As is mentioned above, we have summarized and discussed some typical type of applications based on durability for self-cleaning technologies.
We suppose that more researcher’s interest to attract to the involvement in more discovery in SCT. In the future, we might clean our clothes, no more washing, nano-enhanced textiles clean themselves with light. The preparation methods of self-cleaning surfaces for use of organic solvents and fluorochemicals, to avoid these chemicals to clarify possible risks of human health and the environmental conditions, their use should be minimized. The durability of self-cleaning techniques in laundries, textile and building construction increased better as reported earlier. Inspiration to nature will give an idea to develop simple and low-cost methods to construct self-cleaning surfaces with superhydroscopic for capable of advanced applications in the way of better durability. Now, even though research studies have concentrated on the production of such coatings, novel synthesis method needs to be established that are cost-effective without compromising on the quality.
5. Conclusions
In this review, we have counted the latest achievements related to durability of SCT, collected by their practical applications such as textile industry, toilet, solar cell, cotton fabrics, building construction etc. The improvement in eco-friendly coatings of SCT are improving the environmental conditions for long periods of durability and it will reduce time, energy, laundry cost, etc. In SCT, recent progress of the durability of SCT reviewed for investigation into a last decades. How the durability of SCT was important to today’s life also discussed. The durability studies also discussed with influence characteristics on SCT classified and discussed. As a future direction for durable SHP surfaces, the most important aspect that will further strengthens in this field. Present conclusions, future perspectives, and challenges on the field of the durability of SCT also discussed.
